PERFORMANCE, 2010
Hunger Follies – Scratch #1 is a critical statement addressing the problem of deforestation in the Amazon Forest, where extensive areas were burned to cattle ranching for meat exportation.
The performance starts with a pre-recorded sound performance played in the Courthouse Theater in black out. When the audio ends and the aisle lights of the theater are lit, the audience is confronted by the image of the performer with a cattle head skull, walking in the theater aisles silently, while offering the spectators raw meat on a white porcelain plate.
This performance was created to be presented at the intermission of the New Filmmakers Series – Latino at the Anthology Film Archives, in New York. Its concept was initially sketched in 2005.
